Hello Friend,

August has been filled with connection and momentum at Gratitude Village! From gathering for our picnic to preparing for our big evening with Charles Durrett, we are reminded why we’re building this community: to connect, to belong and to create a sustainable future together. Here’s what’s new and exciting this month — and how you can be part of it.

A Joyful Picnic at Addenbrooke

Sunshine, laughter, and perfect timing for the rain.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our summer picnic on August 24 at Addenbrooke Park in Lakewood! Six founding families shared delicious food and great conversation. And just as we were packing up — the skies opened! We couldn’t have timed it better. Gatherings like this remind us of the joy and connection that are at the heart of Gratitude Village.

Charles Durrett Event – Tickets Going Fast!

Over half the seats are already gone — don’t miss out! Cohousing pioneer Charles Durrett will be with us in Denver on Thursday, September 18 from 6-8pm for an inspiring evening. More than half the seats are already sold, and we expect this event to sell out! If you haven’t secured your ticket yet, now is the time.

New Membership Option: Village Builder

A pathway for future long-term renters at Gratitude Village. We’re excited to announce our newest membership option: Village Builder. Designed for future long-term renters, this level offers priority for a rental home plus opportunities to join in community activities and governance. This is a perfect way to secure your place in Gratitude Village if homeownership isn’t the right fit. Contact Suzie for more information.

$3,000 credit and a seat at the design table this fall. If you’ve been considering becoming a Founding Member, now is the time. Early adopters who join by Sunday, September 21 will receive a $3,000 credit toward their future home. Founders will also be invited to join our community design workshops where we’ll co-create the look, feel, and function of Gratitude Village together. Don’t miss your chance to shape the future! Meet a Future Neighbor: Emily Langman

Returning to Colorado with a vision for healing and community. Emily is moving back to Colorado from South Dakota to help co-create a mindful, sustainability-focused community. A decade-long recovery from Lyme disease shaped her calling to advocate for “Lyme Warriors,” study mind–body connections with a Colorado shamanic teacher, and coach others through seasons of transformation. She’s excited to bring her heart for healing and learning into everyday village life. Read more about Emily.

Meet the Board: Kathryn Wallisch

Combining technical expertise with a passion for inclusive communities. Kathryn brings a rare blend of skill and care to the Gratitude Village board. With a background in computer science, robotics, education, and workforce development, she now serves as an Operations Associate at Elevation Community Land Trust, supporting operations and welcoming future homeowners. Her passions include cycling, transit advocacy, and building connected, inclusive neighborhoods. Kathryn is also expanding her urban development studies — another step in her lifelong commitment to better places for people. Read more about Kathryn.
