Located just two miles by bike or walking from Gratitude Village (4.5 miles to the car entrance Barr Lake State Park provides a sanctuary for both wildlife and people. A reservoir that covers more than 1,950 acres is the heart of this 2,715-acre park. The lake is surrounded by cottonwoods and marshes and is home to aquatic plants. Its southern half has been chosen as a wildlife refuge to shelter animals and a greater variety and number of birds than anywhere else in Colorado. Just a short drive northeast of the Denver area, Barr Lake State Park has something for every type of outdoors person, from the fishing enthusiast and boater to the naturalist.

The Armory Performing Arts Center is a historic building that was renovated in 2009. Originally a state armory, it was reopened as a performing arts center and offers a wide range of performing arts services. Our mission is to provide affordable entertainment and event hosting services to cater to the community's cultural and social needs. We provide a platform for various activities such as theater, dance, music, and other related events. Our center caters to local residents and visitors alike.


The Armory Performing Arts Center
Part of the Colorado Front Range Trail, the pet-friendly South Platte River Trail can be accessed at various points along its 30-mile route from Brighton, CO to Englewood with its midpoint located in Denver. Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy a walk with you on this popular path that follows the South Platte River. The trail extends from Denver boundary north to 136th Avenue. The South Platte River Trail is the major regional trail for the Denver Metro area. Following the South Platte River from the Chatfield Reservoir into Adams County, it is also part of the Colorado Front Range Trail.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is located 17.6 miles (about 20 minutes from Gratitude Village) and offers an incredible 1,214 acres of natural habitats for its rescued animals to enjoy. It is home to more than 750 rehabilitated animals and represents the largest carnivore sanctuaries in the world. Everything about the facility was designed and built like no other in existence with the goal of keeping the animals' welfare a top priority, even with the numerous modern comforts provided for guests. Learn how the 1.5 miles of elevated bridgework provides unwavering protection to hundreds of Lions, Tigers, Bears, Leopards, Mountain Lions, Wolves, Hyenas and a few smaller carnivores such as Servals, Bobcats, Lynx, Foxes, Coyote and Coati Mundi. You’ll get to view most of the animals enjoying life in giant habitats or large enclosures, complete with all kinds of enrichment structures, such as lakes, pools, platforms and other animal “jungle gyms,” as well as “boomer balls” they can roll around or swim with.
