At Gratitude Village Colorado, we’re not just building homes—we’re creating a community where belonging, sustainability, accessibility, and affordability are woven into the foundation. As we take major steps forward in development, we’re seeking new members to join our Board of Directors who are ready to contribute their skills, passion, and leadership to bring this vision to life.
Why the Board Matters
Our Board of Directors is the backbone of the organization. They guide the mission, ensure financial health, and provide the strategic leadership that allows Gratitude Village to grow from vision to reality. Board members help shape policy, provide governance, and champion the mission in the wider community. Serving on the board means becoming part of something larger than yourself—a movement to create a vibrant, mixed-income, multigenerational cohousing community where people truly thrive together.
Core Responsibilities
Board members provide critical leadership in these areas
Governance & Oversight: Ensuring adherence to our mission, vision, and values while supporting transparency and accountability.
Strategic Planning: Setting long-term goals and guiding site selection, financing, and sustainable development.
Financial Stewardship: Approving budgets, monitoring financial reports, and supporting fundraising.
Fundraising & Advocacy: Helping cultivate donors, secure grants, and champion our mission in the community.
Executive Leadership: Supporting and advising the Executive Director.
Community Engagement: Acting as an ambassador for Gratitude Village and building strong partnerships.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Reviewing outcomes and ensuring effectiveness.
Ethics & Accountability: Upholding our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Capacity Building: Recruiting and mentoring future board members and supporting organizational growth.
Expectations and Commitment
Board service is designed to be meaningful and manageable. Here’s what members can expect
Meeting Schedule:
The board meets monthly on the 4th Friday, 9:00–10:15 a.m. MT via Zoom.
An annual in-person meeting is held each December.
Term: Two-year term with staggered appointments to ensure continuity. Members may serve up to eight consecutive years.
Participation: Consistent attendance is expected. Missing three consecutive meetings triggers a review with the Chair.
Leadership Roles: Members are encouraged to serve on committees or in officer roles (e.g., Chair, Chair-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary) at some point during their term.
Committees: Initial committees include Executive, Finance, Governance, Nominations and Fundraising.
Support: Board members commit to supporting fundraising efforts through outreach, advocacy, and personal contributions at a level meaningful to them.
Who We’re Looking For
In addition to our slate of 4 new board members, we’re seeking 1–2 new board members who bring skills and perspectives that strengthen our collective leadership. Ideal candidates have:
Passion for affordable, sustainable and/or inclusive housing
Skills in grant writing, finance or fundraising
A collaborative spirit and commitment to equity
Strong networks or community connections
A willingness to actively participate and bring fresh energy to the board table
Ways to Engage Beyond the Board
Even if full board service isn’t the right fit, there are many ways to support the mission:
Volunteer your expertise on committees.
Make a recurring donation.
Share Gratitude Village with your network.
Help connect us to partners, funders, or potential residents.
How to Apply or Nominate Someone
If you’re inspired by our mission—or know someone who would be a wonderful addition to our leadership team—we’d love to talk.
