Gratitude Village Colorado welcomes Charles Durrett back to Denver to conduct the next workshop in our development series, the Get It Built Workshop. According to Durrett this workshop is crucial to saving time and money for any group that wants to develop a cohousing community.

This is the first step in examining the aspects that determine a project’s feasibility and establish the best strategy for moving forward. It gives a delineated plan and a deliberate process on how the project will proceed month to month over the next year including priorities like finding a site, working as a group, understanding city approvals, understanding an organized design process, understanding how to get your money in and out, and much more. The public presentation helps determine a project’s feasibility whereas the Get It Built Workshop drills down to specifics for the core group to develop the community they are envisioning.

What's Included in the fee? The Get It Built Weekend Workshop includes 14 hours of expert instruction with architect Charles Durrett and another architect from The Cohousing Company, hands-on group exercises, a comprehensive 3-ring binder with planning materials and templates, comprehensive Q&A periods throughout each day and lunch provided each day!

Space is limited to 30 guests! All GVCO Founders and Explorers are encouraged to attend as well as anyone seriously interested in joining Gratitude Village in the future. Not attending will put you behind the rest of the community in terms of knowledge and bonds.

Gratitude Village Colorado welcomes Charles Durrett, nationally acclaimed architect, author and cohousing pioneer, for an evening celebrating the power of intentional community, sustainability & connected living.

Durrett, who helped introduce the concept of cohousing to the United States and has authored 16 influential books on the subject, will give a keynote presentation on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Gather at Lakeside. His talk will explore the foundations of cohousing, spotlight his latest work, Neuro-Inclusive Community Design: Lessons From Sólheimar Ecovillage , which chronicles the story of Solheimar—a thriving intergenerational, neuroinclusive community in Iceland, and highlight the launch of Gratitude Village, Denver's newest cohousing community.

The evening starts off with an author meet & greet, book signing and refreshments (snacks, cookies and soft drinks) before Durrett begins his 50 minute presentation which is followed by Q&A and community discussion. This is an ideal event for individuals, families, housing & disability advocates, policymakers and anyone curious about more sustainable & connected ways to live.
